Day 8- Being Fearless

Good morning everyone!
Today is going to be another beautiful day.

"I am a fearless warrior!"
I used to say these words over and over to myself whenever I felt scared, for as long as I could remember...

My biggest fear was of evil spirits, especially when I lived in Nigeria, where the stories you would hear of witchcraft would make you an insomniac! 


Movies like Yoruba movies (especially!), Pete Edochie and Kanayo O. Kanayo movies, ... 

Moving abroad I guess cured that fear for me...

What is FEAR? According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, it is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. 

If there is anything that stunts the growth or achievement of success, it is fear!
It could be fear of heights, spiders, ... or fear of disappointment, rejection or ridicule... or fear of past mistakes, the unknown or even death.....

We always try not to think about our fears, and push them to the back burner because we are AFRAID to conquer them. 
This actually feeds into our subconscious mind and generates a lot of hidden negativity. This could also translate to us always trying to seek stability in life, that is why we try to find a routine that works for us, and stick to it! Always looking for something very mundane and call it life...



Been there...

All that while, we watch people living exciting lives out in the world or on TV or social media and think, "If only I could be like them!" with dreamy eyes.

Well you could... You just have to take the plunge! Be fearless in achieving your dreams... 

Fear is a mental obstacle that may blind you from opportunities that can help or even achieve your true intentions. 
Once you overcome fear, you will hold unspeakable power, and bravery could mean anything... 
It could be as small as say trying a new ice cream flavor to planning to destroy an oligarchic government...

All the most amazing feats mankind has ever discovered or created is through having the courage to break barriers, acquire knowledge or be revolutionary.


Our greatest heroes are/were fearless! You can be a hero too...

I want to introduce to you.... The ultimate fearless man.... The ICEMAN! 


THE ICEMAN!

His name is Wim Hoffman, a Dutchman, who many years ago decided to train his body to do things beyond mankind's wildest imaginations. And he said it was through "Becoming Fearless" and "The Power of Love".

Wim has not only baffled scientists and doctors all over the world, but he has changed the face and the future of medicine and human physiology, through the way he has managed to control his nervous and immune system at his own will. Wow!
This means that he can withstand any amount of cold naked without his core body temperature changing (He climbed Mount Everest in shorts!) and he can not get sick, ever! He currently holds over 20 Guinness World Records and is always pushing the limits as to what we think the human body can do!


What is even more cool is that everybody can do what he is doing to his body through simple yet effective breathing techniques. 
His Wim Hof method of breathing is something everybody should practice and be familiar with, as outlined here.
Amazing stuff to see and read!

To be truly fearless is to fear nothing including death. With life comes death, and to truly live life, you have to accept and surrender that you will die one day. 
Controlling death is futile because of its inevitability, but you can do that for your life. 
This realization will make you want to eat healthier, exercise more, chase your dreams fully and just want to enjoy life.



When you realize how short life really is, then you would act now!


Daily Practice:

Once you truly realize that fear is all in your head and the only person stopping you from achieving your dreams, is you... then you have achieved true fearlessness.

When you are in a scary situation, make sure you are calm to make clear decisions, and trust your inner voice. It will give you a clear path to follow and the courage you will need to get through any rough patches in your life.


Always trust yourself!

Here is a guide on how to conquer your fears:

1. Write down all the things you are afraid of that is hindering you from achieving your dreams.

2. You need to go through each item on the list and think very reasonably and rationally as to why you are scared. 


Tip: Honesty is the best policy. You may uncover some unpleasant/repressed thoughts, but you need to dissect everything.

3. You have to be fully relaxed and patient. It may take a while, but go at your own pace. Rome was not built in one day!


Tip: You may need help be it from a health professional, friend or through divine means, to help you sort through your fears.

4. Let go of everything... Like the past, your insecurities, societal ridicule... Including your emotions. It is okay to be angry or happy or cry... 

5. Try to face your fears head on and make a bold step towards achieving your dreams. Whatever it is, do it today!
